Sergey Gurgen Meghryan

Date of birth: 9th February 1976.

EDUCATION

1992–1997 S. Meghryan studied at the Faculty of Law of the Yerevan State University (diploma with honours).

1997–2000 postgraduate study at the Yerevan State University.

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY

1998–2000 S. Meghryan was a lecturer at the Chair of Civil Law during postgraduate study at YSU.

 

In 1999–2004, S. Meghryan was a teacher-coordinator at the student legal consultation (legal clinic) at YSU.

 

2000–2006 S. Meghryan was an assistant of the Chair of Civil Law at YSU.

 

2006–2007 S. Meghryan was an associate professor at the Chair of Civil Law at YSU.

 

2007–2018 S. Meghryan was the Head of the Chair of Civil Procedure at YSU.

 

2002–2007 S. Meghryan was the Head of the Legal Department of the Armenian-Canadian Joint Venture “Grand Candy” LLC (part-time).

 

2002–2007 S. Meghryan was a lawyer at OJSC “Hay Hrushak” [“Armenian |Pastry”] (part-time).

 

2003–2004 S. Meghryan was the Chancellor of Grigor Zohrab University (part-time).

 

In 2014–2018, S. Meghryan was a scientist-member of the Commission for the evaluation of judges of the General Assembly of Judges of the Republic of Armenia (concurrently).

 

In 2016–2018, S. Meghryan participated in “The Civil Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia” draft development and coordinated the activities of the relevant working group formed by the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan (Armenia).

 

In 2016–2018, S. Meghryan participated in “The Judicial Code of the Republic of Armenia” constitutional law concept development. S. Meghryan participated in “The Judicial Code of the Republic of Armenia” constitutional law draft development as well and coordinated the activities of the relevant working groups formed by the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan (Armenia).

 

In 2015–2019, S. Meghryan periodically taught at “The Judicial School of the Republic of Armenia” NGO, at the Law School of the Republic of Armenia, and at the Academy of Justice of the Republic of Armenia.

 

2018–2019 S. Meghryan was a member of the Supreme Judicial Council of the Republic of Armenia.

 

Since 2018 S. Meghryan is an associate professor of the Chair of Civil Procedure at YSU.

 

In 2020–2023, S. Meghryan was the head of the Compulsory enforcement service of the Republic of Armenia.

 

By the Decree of the President of the Republic of Armenia dated May 29, 2023, S. Meghryan was appointed a judge of the Civil Chamber of the Court of Cassation of the Republic of Armenia.

OTHER INFORMATION

Since 1998 S. Meghryan is a member of the Lawyers’ Association of the Republic of Armenia.

 

Since 2015 S. Meghryan is a member of the Chamber of the Advocates of the Republic of Armenia.

 

In 2005-2018, S. Meghryan was a member of the Academic Council of the Faculty of Law of the Yerevan State University.

 

In 2015-2018, S. Meghryan was a member of the Academic Council of the Yerevan State University.

 

In 2013, for his outstanding contribution to the education and science spheres, S. Meghryan was awarded the “Gold Commemorative Medal” by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia.

 

S. Meghryan is the author of more than 60 monographs, textbooks, tutorials, and study guides.
